Q:
Is the water for the pool too cold in ocotober?
A:
I would say this depends on the time of the day and the ambient temperature. The pool is encased by the hotel walls so it does not get direct sun light until the later part of the morning.
Mary Ann M.3 years agoQ:
Is the pool free to use for anyone staying at the hotel?
A:
Yes. In deed! What a great pool, too! There's a sweet waterfall, poolside lounge chairs and sofas. Plus the bar is great.

I have know this place since it open. Was more hype back then but still a golden gem.
Came here for a birthday and wedding for rooms and there are just well kept over the years. The suites are so bad a** cause they are huge with awesome themes plus enormous. Feels totally at home.
Snack and drinks from like 3-6,8' lobby.
Self serve tea and coffee in each level til 10.
Packages are available and actually a deal Compared to other hotels
Valet only. Validate possible. Or 15 for quick visit and 50 for overnight. Something like that.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Adeline T.Waipahu, HI1191169Feb 2, 2024

Since my last review, I have returned to ZaZa on two occasions. The first was for a last minute overnight stay in Houston. I had a free night from my ZIP membership, so I thought why not use it even if I had a bad stay again. But... It was a good stay! Next stay was a 4-night stay for the CFB National Championship. I chose ZaZa due to my familiarity with it, but also the location was perfect - Just steps away from the MetroRail and conveniently located between downtown event locations and NRG Stadium. After this stay, I am delighted to report that ZaZa is 5-stars all the way!
While seemingly everywhere the trend is for less service, ZaZa continues to treat its guests to the ultimate experience. The daily "extras" are standard for all guests and include turndown service, morning coffee, afternoon cookies, and special treats for the guests - like white glove service of mini hotdogs in the lobby! ZIP members also enjoy a welcome gift (e.g. bottle of wine) following their first visit.
The hotel common areas and rooms are clean and ultra chic.
Overall, ZaZa has a prime location and emphasis on service. I am looking forward to my next stay!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Feb 26, 2018Previous reviewZaZa, What the heck happened to you?! You used to be a 5-star experience - - Great room, impeccable customer service every time. On this last visit, however, I was supremely underwhelmed.
This visit, I booked the Pool Bungalow Queen (room 314). The room itself was as expected with comfortable bed. The problems, however, were the very loud a/c unit that rattled in the ceiling, but even worse, no hot water! NONE. Both the shower and sink had no hot water. I called downstairs to lodge my complaint, and I was told someone could come up - I was in the midst of trying to get ready for an early morning appointment, so I told them to come up after I left. Which they did... But, for a morning of cold water, I received absolutely no compensation. You seem to give out free drinks or Monarch bucks at the drop of a hat, but I received absolutely nothing (hardly, even an apology!) for no hot water. I don't spend $200+ per night for that type of service. Very lame, ZaZa.
I love the location of Hotel ZaZa, and for that reason, suspect that I will book again in the future, but after this experience, I will definitely think twice before doing so. - Mar 17, 20244 check-ins
Wow! Staying at Zaza was an absolute delight! The hotel exudes luxury and comfort in every aspect. My room felt like royalty, equipped with all necessities for my business trip. The front desk staff provided exceptional service, even going the extra mile to provide me with deodorant when I forgot mine. Highly recommend!

They really did an amazing job with the renovation from the previous hotel. The vibe in here is fun and swanky and every detail is perfect. The room was great and had a cute little balcony. Every drink or meal I had in the hotel was good too. My only issue was when the power went out and we had to take our luggage down the stairs!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Zaza.
I took my mom to Houston for her birthday so that she could visit their Museum of Fine Art, and the Zaza was next door so we chose to stay there.
From the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty. Every department of the entire operation was covered, and excellent service was on tap. From valet to reception, to housekeeping, the pool staff, to the Monarch restaurant - no one dropped the ball.
And there is beauty everywhere you look. The koi pond in the lobby was beautiful and calming, the artwork in the elevators is vibrant and quirky, the furnishings that surround you are chic and luxurious.
We requested and were granted early check-in, and our room was spotless. We enjoyed the afternoon cookies in the lobby and the morning coffee service on our floor. The pool was perfect for lounging and enjoying a hand crafted specialty cocktail - and the lovely folks at the bar handed out samples of their frose and a couple of other frozen concoctions so that everyone could give them a try.
Also, I don't think I've ever encountered such sweet travelers on any visit out of town. People from all over the globe were quick with a "hello", and "where are you from?"
Thank you Zaza for a magical stay.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Sep 17, 2023
The only Hotel Zaza I have visited was the one in Austin where it exceeded my expectations, and was excited to stay at the Hotel Zaza Houston Museum District. Location was another priority where it was walking distance to the museums my wife and I were planing to visit. Upon pulling up I was greeted with a team of parking assistants where my bags were whisk out of our vehicle and escorted to the front desk. The lobby was gorgeous with artwork on the walls and a koi pond.
I have not see this type of luxury service since before covid where we were escorted to our room along with our luggage. Make sure to bring some twenties to thank the staff. They did not have turn down service, but was fine with us. The room was very nice where we had a view of the beautiful pool and Texas Medical Center (saw fireworks one night), eccentric decor with a clear sink (glad the toilet was not clear), mini fridge (only for items to purchase), comfortable bed, and a quiet night.
In the morning, coffee and Biscoff cookies are provided on each floor. I enjoyed this very much for met and able to meet and talk to some guests. You can also enjoy a delicious breakfast downstairs at Monarch Bistro.
We did have both dinner and breakfast at Monarch Bistro and it was fantastic. The pool was just outside next to it and has that Italian fair. Lots of seating, pool side service and cabanas. Some guest rooms have balconies facing it.
We ended up getting tickets to see the Houston Astros and Zaza gave us a nice in a black suv with longhorns on the hood. They also picked us up too where they said they had a radius around the hotel where could give a ride to which includes downtown and the Galleria.
This was a luxury boutique hotel so the dress code is nice to glamorous depending on your circumstances of your stay. We had a great time, enjoyed meeting guests, ate some great food, saw some incredible sites, and interacted with the nice staff.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily K.Suffern, NY12611Apr 7, 2024
We had such a wonderful weekend at the Hotel Zaza in a poolside room! We were attending alumni events at Rice University which was a pleasant, close walk - but we also utilized the house car when we did not feel like walking.
We LOVED our poolside room. The door opened up to a little private sitting area that felt like our own cabana! We enjoyed the pool, though a bit too cold for me, and they brought around some delicious complimentary drinks to try and ice pops.
The onsite restaurant, the monarch, made a great iced latte and the garlic fries with the ranch was amazing. We also enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee and the hotel and the snacks and juices later on in the day.
We appreciated the house car and I was pleased with its availability- we used it several times!
Our last day we were able to sleep in, relax with coffee in our sitting area by the pool, without rushing out because the standard checkout is not until noon! This made a big difference as well. I contacted the manager, Travell prior to our visit and he was very kind. We will definitely return to stay here for our next trip to Houston. Thank you for the hospitality!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim W.Buzzards Bay, MA05May 11, 2024
The service in the restaurant today was unacceptable. Our meals were not bad, but served inattentively. Utensils and napkins were not provided when our meals were served, nor was salt and pepper. The caesar salads were served with ranch dressing. Our problem came when the meal was finished. The waiter had to be summoned to bring the bill. The bill was finally bought to the table, and the credit cards given to the server for processing. The server then just disappeared. Three times we searched for the waiter, each time being told that it was in process. It took more than 30 minutes for the bill to be processed and the credit cards returned to the table, making an otherwise marginal meal very unpleasant. The restaurant manager was unsympathetic to our expression of dissatisfaction.
