Sabine Andrivon-Milton continue ses recherches et publications, en particulier sur le thème de la Martinique et de la Grande guerre (publications en 1996, 2005, 2006 : voir GHC p. 1888 et 2242, 2391 et 2523, 4857 et 4895, 5110). Cette fois ce sont des lettres écrites par des soldats martiniquais (ils furent près de 9 000 à quitter leur île) sur le front européen et sur le front d’Orient (Les Dardanelles), lettres que lui ont confiées des familles ou qu’elle a relevées dans des journaux de l’époque, comme le carnet de route d’un mobilisé entre Martinique et Bordeaux, les lettres envoyées au député Joseph Lagrosillière, la correspondance en créole entre un père et son fils.
Les lettres sont livrées telles quelles, sans commentaire mais avec quelques identifications des personnes qui écrivent ou sont citées (grâce aux travaux antérieurs de l’auteur) : recueil intéressant sur les plans historique et pédagogique et émouvant sur le plan humain par l’enthousiasme, le patriotisme, le courage et les souffrances des combattants.
