goes on lipstick powdery iris then deepens and richens with some vanilla, violet, and a little faint peachy/lemon to give it a rounded subtle fruit sweetness

ABSTRACT HELIOTROPE. Opens with a fresh burst of Waldorf salad (nuts, mayo, apple, celery, grapes), that deepens into a rosy heart that has powdery, velvety, violet, sweet & plum-y nuances, all resting on a vanilla benzoin base with cedar & peach tones. Overall when I take as step back, what I get is an abstract composition of heliotrope (sometime called the "cherry-pie" flower with nuances of vanilla, baby powder, almond extract, deep & sweet fruit), going from lemony-green buds to full bloom. The heart & drydown smell a lot like heliotropin/heliotrope essential oil, most of which comes from Peru. Average or slightly above average performance.

Contrast to Cinema Yves Saint Laurent:
Although these have been compared, I find them different, however there are similarities with almond(blossom) and benzoin. Rosalie is more lemon forward in the opening, while Cinema dries down heavier with more benzoin. Cinema outperforms.

Overall: Average or slightly above average performance, with a beautiful scent profile, this is the perfect scent to wear trekking the Inca Trail It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Easy to love. Sweet, floral, feminine, modern but vintage-y. I'm really happy with this purchase.

Ooh this is so tingly and spritely! What an interesting scent! I’m disappointed I’m not getting a whole lot of roses from a perfume that sort of white lie promised it, but this is pretty. The rose is there, but sort of softly in the background, and emerging more prominently the longer I savour it. Mmm the lemon. This one makes me happy.

If you're buying this because you like the look of the accords, you might be disappointed. I was.
When I first tried it, I did get a bit of citrus in the beginning, some florals and a faint almond note that was very different than the sweet gourmand almonds I usually experience in fragrances. If anything, it was more of a raw almond. Trying this again after some months, and the herbally citrus is way stronger! For me this is a good thing, because it smells exactly like Limelight from Bath and Body Works, at least from what I can remember. It's been discontinued a long time, but I absolutely loved that scent! As the citrus dies down, I think I can pick up a faint whiff of almond along with a bit of perfuminess. Overall, I'm starting to enjoy this a lot more.

Finally a blind buy, which impressed me and didnt turn into anger and cursing!!I love it.It resembles L'instant so much that is unbelievable.Of course Guerlain is more full body and potent ,which i dont like ,because suffocates me and i feel sick. This is what should Linstant be-more toned down and fresher.I am soooo happy!!!

Yes Malena

Takes a little while to get to know Rosalie. She's kind of a quirky little thing. I have not spent much time if any with L'Instant Guerlain, so I'm just taking Rosalie at face value, rather than comparing the two.

At first the "lemon tree" and petitgrain are very prominent, and this feels like a woody/spicy/greenish lemon/lemongrass-y type of smell. I think the almond is there too, and also something like a dry, sweet pine sawdust, which becomes cedar later on. So much going on it's hard for me to discern.
An lightweight powder/orris develops after the top notes calm down. A soft magnolia is like a sweeter, rounder echo of the sharp, opening lemony stuff. Searching for the green apple, I think it's just very blended into a general tartness plus powderiness. And after 15 minutes or so I start to get a new element--violet--something airier and sweeter than has come up so far. I have to really pay attention to appreciate the floral aspects.
Cedar is just a nice hint, offsetting the sweeter base notes of vanilla and benzoin, and we have a comforting dry-down.

It's an engaging fragrance, and therefore doesn't disappoint--at this affordable price point. It is possible to overspray and get a bit of a sickly feeling if I am not already feeling great, which I think has to do with the richness that you get with the lemon/gourmand combo. Rose is not prominent; I don't even detect rose. Lasting power is 3 - 4 hours on this cold day; sillage is gentle, which is probably fine with this type of fragrance. This is kind of a sneezer. Intriguing, and I like Rosalie okay, but at this point I wouldn't see myself repurchasing. Thank you Grès!

Definitely similar to L’instant but honestly I think I prefer Rosalie. It has a very interesting opening: a strange burst of almond powder and herbal toned citrus. That herbal vibe actually recalls the original Cabotine. After a bit, it’s old fashioned floral face powder and beautiful BENZOIN. Like L’instant it’s a gorgeous benzoin bomb. Better throw then L’instant. A bit more interesting. If the longevity beats L’instant’s then this will definitely replace it for me especially since Guerlain stuff is so expensive these days and Gres bottles are still dirt cheap UPDATE: 8 hours later, still going strong!

Damn that is so lemony, its opening is like Something Blue Oscar De La Renta. As if I needed another one. Its not terrible alright I just didnt need another lemon bomb. I dont smell peach, almond, benzoin, magnolia on me or any other note really except lemon, some rose and some jasmine. I needa stop blind buying. Its also powdery and reminds me of the cheap lemon cologne ppl used back in the 80s. Bought it for the almond, peach and benzoin and Im mad right now lol. Not a safe blind buy
Update: Ok so the drydown is very very faint and has some of the benzoin and its sweeter less sour but that opening man its so green and lemony like cut grass almost if I smell up close. After 4 mins it's like an old fashioned lotion. I doubt I could even sell it so Ill keep and wear when I cut grass lmao.
Update: So on paper it smells fantastic, green, citric but sweet aromatic with the rose thats not dusty on paper and I get more of the vanilla, so it must not be working with my body chemistry. It is quite close in the opening to Moschino Toujours Glamour which does work well on my skin

My latest addition to my cache of Gres...Rosalie. When I first sprayed it. It was quite strange roast almonds? Hairspray? I was confused, where was that rose.. I was afraid this was yet another perfume that promised rose and didn't deliver.. The elusive rose.
I let it sit for a few days to recover from its travels before delivery. This morning I gave it another spin. This morning top notes are a kind of lemony, almondy biscuit. Is it a gourmand, maybe. The rose was somewhere in the background.
Left it for an hour and on the skin intimate perfume... And the rose emerges.. A deep mysterious damask rose... The lemon still hints.. And the biscuit becomes creamy delicious hovering. I think I'm loving it now, its hard to define... But I'm intrigued, my faith in Gres is untarnished... Each one of the three cabotine I now own are so unique. So I guess I should cave in and buy the Cabotine rose.. As my final, So I can compare. Always on the lookout for the perfect rose heaven, so hard to find. I can see this is not everyone's ideal, it's hard to pin down. The cabotine 100ml bottles of EDT all sell for under 20.. That is a major success story, I'm happy I found.

mirrorghost

at first i get a lemony rose with petit grain, with a hint of the fruits in the background. i think the peach comes out more and the lemon stays strong. i can see the comparison with l'instant though i prefer it a bit more than this. the fruit is turning a bit on me and it's turning into fruity hairspray for awhile. luckily, that stops and the peach keeps getting stronger. it ends up primarily peach and lemon with some rose. very pretty for spring.

Jabouba

Just got this perfume it was a blind buy
At first I was disappointed but then I kept spraying it and I started loving it.
Cheap and cheerful great for spring it has a vibe of Red Roses Jo Malone

Tugboat

I was so looking forward to trying this! Almond, violet, rose, and vanilla are among my favorite notes, so this should have been amazing. Instead, all I got was this strangely harsh, bug spray-like smell. Eventually, it fades into a skin so soft or Johnson's baby powder-type smell, but nothing gourmandish, nutty, or fruity at all. So sad. Hopefully one of these days I'll learn that there's just no such thing as a safe blind buy.

D.N.P.

This is an EDT.. a freaking EDT that last for a good 6 hours on me. Some EDPs don't even last that long. It has better sillage then the Cabotine Rose (I bought them together, but the other one didn't last much on me and I didnt try this till almost a month after purchase). On my skin, this frag smells like peanut butter, not almond, but after about 30 mins, this changes to floral sweetness. I could smell the very faint vanilla and some kind of fruit smell (it is a bit melon-y to me), but mostly i get fresh jasmine, irises and roses. I think any ladies of any age group would like this scent, my mom is already borrowing mine because she loves it too
:-D

This is lovely, definately my kind of perfume. I've been searching for the perfect soft, delicate perfume with these notes for a while and I can categorically say that this is better than alot of the ones that I've tried that are in the same sort of genre.

I don't see freesia listed but to my nose this is a soft, slightly powdery (not overly so) mix of lemon, freesia and violet, the lemon seems to take the stage for me though.

This perfume is in the same sort of vein as Versace baby rose jeans, Lolita lempicka l'eau en blanc, Love2love freesia and violet, not exactly the same but in a similar soft and dainty way and I have to say I am completely shocked at how cheap this is and this performs really very well for the price also, considering Lolita l'eau is 4 times the price aswell this performs better than that one does. None of these dainty little scents last ages or project alot as that is just the nature of them but this projects better than the others.

As much as I love this, I'm still not sure if this is "the one" yet though, it is really lovely but im not sure if it's a bit too lemony for me, I kind of wish the violet and rose would be a little more pronounced. With this particular genre of perfume I've been looking for the perfect one, a casual day signature and I'm not sure if this is it yet, as lovely as it is I was hoping for more rose/violet.

The only negative I've found with this perfume is that it can get a little sickly, not in the gourmand sickly way but the lemon can get a bit much in this, but overall a very good cheapie, very good x

Such a sweet, innocent fragrance from first spray, but the surprisingly complex development is a treat!

This is a precious spring floral at first spray. I feel like I'm getting some lilac at the beginning, and it's just a nice, soft, billowy bouquet.

However, soon enough the sweetness comes through, and here, it's almost like an entirely new scent. But the sweetness leans heavily floral. I'm looking at you, violet! And as that settles in, the orris joins in to create a lovely powdery acord.

It's fairly light. I sprayed several generous sprays from a decant that sprays probably the equivalent of 4 normal sprays for each of it's sprays! But it is one that seems you can't possibly overspray. Maybe more like a body spray. But I feel that if this had better longevity and projection, it would be quite a popular scent.

I would categorize this as almost universally likeable, and a safe enough blind buy as long as you're not expecting much.

sandifitzg

Gentle rosy flowers on a warm base of amber and cedar. It projects arms length and lasts a few hours. Really lovely comforting fragrance. I love the woody notes peaking through.

LiliaBetty

A pleasant almond and rose scent, reminds me of poison hypnotic but a lot less in strength and a whole lot simpler hence the price tag. PH is sweet and heavy, whereas this Rosalie is gentle and warm. It only lasted 2- 3 hours on my skin, but I don’t mind it at all. I find it unique and I’m keeping this in my collection.

kati77

I find this scent ordinary. Kind of i smelled that already somewhere. Nothing more to say after a sample.

chinook

Cabotine Rosalie is quite strange on me. It opens up with a flash of gourmand goodness that smells like almond and baked goods. Within seconds, it's gone and replaced with a nondescript sourness. The sourness mellows out slightly and the whole scent becomes really jarring and chaotic. In the dry-down, a dry and rubbery vanilla base peaks through, which reminds me the base notes in Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee and Adam Levine for Women, while the jarring sourness is still present. Overall, Gaborone Rosalie is a lot more aromatic than gourmand to me.

SheryShery

I like this perfume, it`s warm and sweet, in a good way.
It is another modern easy to wear scent. Nice mixed notes with a creamy caracter and nice sillage.

The bottle is not at all opaque, it is a clear glass bottle with a wrapping around it.

kbot

Powdery rose and almonds, or more accurately, an almond cookie (has that slight vanilla edge). Sweet but not too much. Would work year-round in almost any weather. I understand the comparisons to Lolita Lempicka and flankers, but this does not have the anise note that I cannot tolerate in that brand, while still retaining the cozy, floral-gourmand quality that makes LL so unique. I like Cabotine Fleur Splendide for the same reason. I will be keeping an eye on good online deals on this one.

Loca del Tó

This is just lovely. I don't get many gourmand notes but the rose is astounding. Fresh, slightly sweet and so very casually elegant. Something you can wear in hot weather, very office friendly and also quite distinctive. In the same spirit of Chloé by Chloé or Agua Fresca de Rosas Blancas by Adolfo Domínguez. I still prefer the original Cabotine but these flankers are really nice and much more wearable. So pleasant you'll want to bathe in this. And its very cheap too. Unluckily this is not easy to find but if you find it get it, it's a pretty safe blind buy and you won't regret it
Edit: did a side by side comparison and this reminds me of Rochas Tocade somehow but much lighter. I think the rose notes in Tocade and Rosalie are very close.

weegee

If, like me, you are an absolute die-hard fan of Cabotine's army of flankers, I predict you will be pleased with Rosalie.

Initial application suggests this is a "rose is a rose is a rose" fragrance but wait a few minutes for amber to step in to give depth to the lightness of pale pink roses. Hang in there for a few minutes longer and you'll find yourself sniffing your wrist as a delicious & edible scent emerges. It's warm almond cookies fresh from the oven or Jordan Almonds when you first open the box. A gourmand Cabotine... who'd have guessed?

Decent longevity (4-5 hours) and modest sillage (does leave a trail).

edit: Something seemed familiar about Rosalie the first couple of times I wore her but I couldn't say why until I sniffed my bottle of Tocade, another rose gourmand. While Tocade has red roses and vanilla cookies to Rosalie's pink roses and almond cookies, both shine with warmth & edible sweetness. Mystery solved.

citypark

Cabotine Rosalie starts with citric notes and develops into a rose powder scent, which stays like this. It is not gourmand for me at all. I wonder why/how this is a flanker for the original Cabotine. Due to the citric notes in the beginning?

The bottle is not opaque, it is a clear glass bottle with a wrapping around.

CR reminds me of the original Anna Sui as this has a sour note in it. It also reminds me of Ombre Rose l'Original by Brosseau as it is very powdery. CR was for me not a powdery rose, but powder with a rose aroma. Suitable for daily wear, leisure and office.

andy1959

I dont`t think this is the same scent like "The one", only some notes are the same, but this is more cozy but isn`t elegant like The one.

andy1959

I like this one, it`s warm and sweet, but in a good way.
It is another modern easy to wear scent. Nice mixed notes with a creamy caracter and nice sillage.
All Cabotines has this french spirit I like so much.

weegee

The house of Gres seems determined to raid my piggy bank yet again. I'm somehow compelled to make every Cabotine flanker MINE, all MINE but not without good reason: none has ever failed to please and some have absolutely delighted. I love the gorgeous floral caps and I'm excited that this 2014 release will arrive in an opaque bottle, a first for the Cabotine line. And the notes contain my favorites: violet, almond, cedar and benzoin... I can hardly wait!

Edit: Today, May 31, 2015 this has FINALLY hit the on-line discounters. Scentedmonkey's ebay store has 100mls for $21.01 with free shipping. I'm dizzy with anticipation!
