Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) is an American lager beer. It was first introduced in 1844 as a product of the Best Brewing Company, which was owned by the Best family. Maria Best married Frederick Pabst, who later became a brewer at the company. The company evolved into the Pabst Brewing Company, which was established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The original beer was first called Best Select, and then Pabst Select. Future iterations of the beverage changed the name to Pabst Blue Ribbon due to the detail of a blue ribbon upon its packaging.

In film[]

Pabst Blue Ribbon was the preferred beverage of two hillbillies named Tucker and Dale in the 2010 horror/comedy Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. They brought a supply with them up to their cabin vacation home in the Appalachian Mountains. When Tucker and Dale went fishing, Dale reached for the last beer, but Tucker smacked his hand away. Ironically, this happened moments after Tucker told Dale that he needed to stand up for himself more often. Apparently, this advice applied to everything except Tucker's beer.

Pabst Blue Ribbon appears to have magical recuperative and healing capabilities as well. When Tucker was stung numerous times by a swarm of angry bees, he retreated to his cabin and poured PBR over his face. Later, when a psychotic college kid named Chad severed off two of Tucker's bowling fingers, he poured Pabst Blue Ribbon over the injury.

When Tucker was being tormented by Chad, Dale tried to bargain with him by offering him their entire cooler of beer in exchange for leaving them alone. Chad declined the offer.

Sometime later, Dale took Tucker to the hospital so they could reattach his missing fingers. To help him recuperate, Dale brought him a nice cold can of PBR in a beer cozy, along with a bendy straw - his favorite sipping utensil.
