Claire Risoldi's Son Pleads Guilty In Major Insurance Fraud Case

Carl Risoldi, Claire Risoldi's son, pleaded guilty Friday. The Clairemont property will be forfeited.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The son of a Bucks County woman found guilty of numerous felony theft and insurance fraud charges earlier this month has pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges in connection with his role in the scheme.

Carl Risoldi, 47, on Friday pleaded guilty to theft by deception and conspiracy charges. Risoldi and his mother, Claire, were charged following a Grand Jury investigation. The investigation concluded the man and his mother defrauded an insurance company for millions of dollars to support an “excessively extravagant lifestyle," the Pennsylvania Attorney General said.

He was sentenced to four years probation and agreed to forfeit the Clairemont property. The proceeds will be applied to restitution suffered by AIG Insurance Company.

The investigation into the family began after an October 2013 fire at their Buckingham Township home, which they called Clairemont. Risoldi lived in the home with his mother, her husband, and his wife, Sheila.

This was the third fire to occur at Clairemont in the past five years, including one in June 2009 and another in August 2010.

The Risoldis were seeking more than $20 million in insurance proceeds for the October 2013 fire, including over $10 million for property damage and $10 million for jewelry that the Grand Jury found Claire Risoldi falsely accused the volunteer firefighters of stealing.
