    Abstract: A cell operable at temperatures between 100.degree. C. and 200.degree. C. includes a non-aqueous electrolyte which comprises at least one solvent belonging to the class of aromatic or aliphatic linear sulfones. The negative active material of the cell may be lithium, for example, and its positive active material is selected from the group constituted by oxides, oxisalts, and sulfides. The electrolyte includes as a solvent, in particular, dimethylsulfone alone or mixed with other aromatic or aliphatic linear sulfones.

    Abstract: The electrolyte is constituted by a conductive vitreous compound having the formula aP.sub.2 S.sub.5, bLi.sub.2 S, cLiX, where X represents chlorine, bromine, or iodine, and where a, b, and c are numbers chosen so that the ratio b/(a+b) lies between 0.61 and 0.70, and so that the ratio c/(a+b+c) is less than or equal to a limit corresponding to the solubility in vitreous phase of LiX in the compound aP.sub.2 S.sub.5, bLi.sub.2 S, with the positive active material comprising 20% to 80% by volume solid electrolyte together with an electron conductor, the improvement wherein a substance chosen from the halogens and the chalcogens is included in the electrolyte in order to produce an in situ chemical reaction at the lithium electrolyte interface thereby creating an ionically conductive bonding layer comprising a lithium halogenide or chalcogenide.

    Abstract: An electrolyte for an electric cell whose negative active material (4) is constituted by lithium and whose positive active material is constituted by thionyl chloride. The electrolyte contains at least one solvent and at least one solute, said solvent being thionyl chloride and said solute being chosen from the group which includes lithium tetrachloroaluminate and lithium hexachloroantimonate. According to the invention said electrolyte further includes a complex chosen from the group which includes AlCl.sub.3,So.sub.2 and SbCl.sub.5,SO.sub.2.The voltage rise of electric cells which include such an electrolyte takes negligible time. Application is to lithium primary batteries of the so-called button type or other conventional constructions useful particularly as energy sources for watches or heart stimulators or pacemakers wherein essential requirements are substantially uniform discharge voltage from inception of use to exhaustion and relatively long life.

    Abstract: Electric cell having a positive electrode comprising an active material intimately intermixed with an electronic conductor, a negative electrode and an electrolyte whose solvent is a non-aqueous liquid. According to the invention, the said electronic conductor is selected so as to bring down the discharge voltage peak of the cell occurring at the beginning of the discharge to or close to the desired operative voltage discharge level required in use of the cell. Batteries according to the invention are advantageously used in watches.
