TALA MADANI AT NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART ATHENS
EXHIBITIONS
Tala Madani presents Shitty Disco, a solo exhibition of paintings and animations at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens (EMΣT). Shitty Disco is part of the museum’s exhibition cycle, What If Women Ruled the World? This four-part series is exclusively dedicated to the work of women artists or artists who identify as female and is based on an often-repeated hypothetical question: What would happen if governance was characterized by female traits? Shitty Disco will include works from Madani’s monumental Cloud Mommy series, among others, and will debut a site-specific installation produced on the occasion of this exhibition. Read more here.
ANNOUNCING REPRESENTATION OF CHICO DA SILVA
NEWS
David Kordansky Gallery is pleased to announce representation of Chico da Silva, whose work will be featured in our Art Basel presentation and was presented in an exhibition of paintings and works on paper last fall at our New York gallery. Chico grew up in the state of Acre, Brazil in the Amazon rainforest, however, his first known engagement with art was in Pirambu, a coastal town in eastern Brazil. There, he developed a distinct visual vocabulary which included graphic representations of mythological or enchanted creatures and Brazilian flora, made surreal through the use of bold colors, intricate line work, and vivid patterning.
